Prohibitions

Cross a street only on the designated pedestrian crossings, available in every street. Never cross if the traffic light is not green yet.

Police is very strict in Belarus. Belarus has inflexible drug laws, which provide no difference between trafficking and possession, or heroin and marijuana. Even a lenient sentence for getting caught with cannabis is several years. The cultivation, sale, and possession of cannabis for recreational purposes or any form of medicinal marijuana products are illegal in Belarus.

Avoid taking pictures of any administrative buildings, bridges, metro, airport, and train station etc. as they are considered as objects of strategic importance. The police or security does not take the photographer to a police station or fine him. But just politely asks to show his passport and writes the data down.

Please note that the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places is illegal in Belarus, with fines ranging from $15 to $50 for individuals caught violating this regulation. This law is in place to maintain public order and ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone.

In Belarus, it is prohibited to drive a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. A state of alcohol intoxication is considered to be present when there is an absolute ethanol content in the blood or exhaled air at a concentration of 0.3 or more per mille. The penalty for this offense includes a fine ranging from $580 to $1160. Being held accountable for drunk driving also results in a three-year ban on operating vehicles.
